Who we are

This policy covers theshadereview.com, published by The Shade Review ("we"). Contact: hello@theshadereview.com.

What we collect

We do not ask you to create an account and we do not collect your name or email unless you write to us.

When you read our pages, we and our advertising partner collect technical data automatically: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, the time of your visit, the link you came from, and identifiers stored in cookies or similar technologies.

If you write to us, we keep your message and address for as long as needed to answer you.

Cookies and the Meta pixel

We use the Meta (Facebook) pixel to measure how readers arrive at our articles from advertising and whether they click through to the products we mention. The pixel sets cookies and sends browsing data to Meta Platforms, Inc., which may combine it with data it holds about you. Meta's own policy applies to that data: facebook.com/privacy/policy.

We do not run analytics beyond this, and we do not use cookies to store your preferences except the opt-out flag described below.

Why we process this data

To understand which articles are read and which links are used, to measure our advertising, and to keep the site working and secure. Under California law, sending browsing data to an advertising partner may count as "sharing" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Who we share it with

Meta Platforms, Inc. (pixel), our hosting provider, and the retailers whose pages you choose to visit through our links. When you leave our site, the destination's own privacy policy applies. We do not sell personal information for money.

Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

Our advertising partner is Meta. You can limit how Meta uses your browsing data for ads at facebook.com/ads/preferences, and you can clear or block cookies in your browser settings, which stops the pixel from recognizing you on this site.

You can also send us a request at hello@theshadereview.com with "Do Not Sell or Share" in the subject line; we will forward it to our advertising partner and confirm by email.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon and other states with privacy laws, and the EU or UK), you may have the right to know what personal information we hold, to have it deleted, to correct it, to opt out of sale or sharing, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. Write to hello@theshadereview.com with "Privacy request" in the subject. We will verify your request and answer within the time the law allows. An authorized agent may act on your behalf with written permission.

Retention and security

Technical data is retained for as long as our advertising partner and host keep their logs, and messages for as long as needed to answer them. We use standard technical measures to protect this site, but no transmission over the internet is fully secure.

Children

This site is written for adults and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top tells you when it last changed.
